    More than 9,000 admirers from all over the United States and 81 countries submitted photos and videos to create a mosaic for President Carter's 100th birthday.

A solid century of life is worthy of a big celebration, and that’s what transpired in the days surrounding former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday on Oct. 1.  

The festivities got going early with a star-studded concert Sept. 17 at the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Jimmy Carter 100: A Celebration in Song featured performances by artists from pop, rock, gospel, country, jazz, hip-hop, Afro-beat, and classical music. Acts included Angelique Kidjo, BeBe Winans, Carlene Carter, Chuck Leavell, D-Nice, Drive-By Truckers, Duane Betts, Eric Church, GROUPLOVE, India Arie, Lalah Hathaway, Rickey Minor Band, Spelman College Glee Club, The B-52’s, The War And Treaty, and The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus. The exuberant show can be viewed on demand at . 

Meanwhile, more than 9,000 admirers from all over the United States and 81 countries submitted photos and videos to create a mosaic of President Carter at various stages of his life. The images were accompanied by heartfelt messages of love and appreciation.

Among the many notables sending out on social media were President Joe Biden; former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama; comedian Jon Stewart; actress Lynda Carter; country music legend Willie Nelson; and actor-activist Sean Penn.  

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp proclaimed Oct. 1 as in the state “to recognize his legacy as our 76th Governor and 39th President." And in a fitting tribute to the U.S. Navy veteran, a quartet of roaring Navy fighter President Carter’s home in Plains, Georgia, where family and close friends gathered to celebrate the big birthday — a milestone never reached by any other American president.
