Â鶹´«Ã½ Deploys Team of Election Experts to Kenya

NAIROBI (Aug. 2, 2022) — Â鶹´«Ã½ today deployed a four-person election expert mission to Nairobi to assess key issues regarding the use and perception of election technology in Kenya’s 2022 presidential election.

The expert team, led by Ben Graham Jones, will provide a preliminary report shortly after the election. Its findings also will help inform a forthcoming Â鶹´«Ã½ handbook on safeguarding election technologies that will focus on international best practices for observing election technology. Given its limited size and scope, the expert mission will not assess the conduct of voting, counting, and tabulation processes, nor make a comprehensive assessment of the election process as a whole.

Â鶹´«Ã½ began its work in Kenya in June and July, when a preelection assessment team initiated an ongoing collaboration with a team from Privacy International to assess privacy issues related to election technologies.
