Â鶹´«Ã½ Statement on Disinformation About the Dec. 20 Elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

ATLANTA — Â鶹´«Ã½ is aware of some disinformation about the Dec. 20 elections that has been falsely attributed to the Center.

Disinformation is false information designed to cause harm, gain political power, or make a profit. Â鶹´«Ã½ rejects all forms of disinformation.

Â鶹´«Ã½ publishes its statements and reports on cartercenter.org and on its official social media accounts. The Center’s international election observation mission encourages everyone to fact-check online reports that claim to be from Â鶹´«Ã½ by visiting the website or @CarterCenter on X to confirm whether the purported information truly came from the Center.

On Dec. 5, Â鶹´«Ã½ published an interim report (PDF) on the election process.
