A high-level delegation of chiefs and elders from Grand Gedeh County will visit Nimba County for a two-day peace and reconciliation meeting with chiefs and elders from Nimba County. The Honorable Minister of Internal Affairs Morris M. Dukuly Sr. has requested Chief Zanzan Karwor, chairman of the National Council of Chiefs and Elders, to lead the meeting, which takes place in Toweh Town, Nimba County, from July 21-23, 2014.
The meeting was jointly proposed by chiefs and elders from Nimba and Grand Gedeh Counties with the goal of better understanding the historical relationships between the people of Nimba and Grand Gedeh counties. It is hoped that the two days will engender peace, unity, and understanding between the chiefs and elders in general and the citizens of the two counties in particular. The meeting has been endorsed by the county superintendants of Nimba and Grand Gedeh Counties and will be supported by Â鶹´«Ã½ as part of its long-term partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to support community-level peace building.
Nimba County Superintendent Fong Zuagele will deliver the opening and closing remarks on behalf of the internal affairs minister.
"I am encouraged by this initiative from our chiefs and elders to establish good communication and understanding among them in the interests of peace. I hope that it will begin a lasting process of improved relations," said Minister Dukuly.
